Keep Your Home Clean #FightCOVID19

COVID 19 MINNEAPOLIS UPDATE.jpg

Our homes should be the safe haven where we can recuperate after a long day’s work. But because of the recent happenings related to the widespread issue on the COVID-19-- which has already infected a large number of people from different parts of the world, we must be more thorough when it comes to keeping our homes clean and safe. For the past couple of months, the world witnessed how easily this virus spread becoming a pandemic and claiming a lot of lives and endangering the global economy. In these difficult times, we must be more vigilant in practicing proper hygiene and keeping our home clean.

The CDC haven’t ruled out the possibility that someone could get the virus from touching something that’s been contaminated and then touching their own mouth, nose or eyes. This is why proper hand washing should also be implemented. As a proactive measure to keeping ourselves and our family safe during this season, we must practice proper sanitation and keep an eye out on necessary actions needed to keep your condo or house clean and virus-free.

Here are five ways to help you disinfect your home :

  1. Decide where to start

  •  Identify the parts of your home that are commonly used by the family. High traffic areas include the living room, the bathroom, and the dining. Make room for things.

  • Clear out spaces.

  • Wear protective gears: mask and gloves.

2. Use disinfectant

If a surface is visibly dirty clean it with soap and water and then use a disinfectant. Make sure you wear disposable gloves when cleaning your home. For quick cleaning, you may use disinfectant wipes which you can use for remote controls, door knobs, refrigerator and cabinet handles where bacteria and viruses thrive.

3. Keep a combination of cleaning materials handy

Use disinfectant sprays to prevent the pathogens from spreading, and the bleach-water solution for thorough cleaning: 1 cup of bleach for 1 gallon of water. You may also use an alcohol-based solution with at least 70% alcohol. The Environmental Protection Agency has a list of cleaning products that meet its criteria for use against the 2019 novel coronavirus.

4. Change your sheets as often as possible!

There are no studies yet to confirm how long the virus lasts on clothes or other fabric but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Change your sheets, pillows and blankets as often as possible. When you wash them, CDC recommends that you use the warmest appropriate water setting for your clothes and dry them completely. Don’t forget to disinfect the hampers and the knobs of your washer and dryer.

5. Dispose stuff

Sponges, bathroom scrubs, and towels which can be home for thousands of bacteria and viruses.

Proper cleaning and sanitation is one of the most effective ways to prevent yourself from acquiring diseases. But we must also not forget the basics-- washing your hands in  a 20-second duration, as the simplest method to maintain hygiene and sanitation. Let’s fight COVID-19 by keeping our homes clean.

Stay safe, stay home.
